Rather than offering one generic account, Chase splits its business checking into three tiers built around how much cash a business typically carries: Business Complete Banking for freelancers and small businesses just getting started, Performance Business Checking for growing companies with more transactions, and Platinum Business Checking for larger operations with heavier cash management needs.
What sets Chase apart from newer, online-only business banks isn't a long list of fintech features. It's scale: a nationwide branch and ATM network, business loans and credit cards on the same login, and a level of brand recognition that matters if you're applying for financing or working with vendors who want to see a familiar bank on your paperwork. The tradeoff is that Chase's fee structure rewards businesses that keep meaningful balances, and the leanest, most modern-feeling experience still tends to belong to smaller digital-first competitors.
Chase makes the most sense for business owners who want a bank they can also visit in person, whether that's to deposit cash, sit down with a banker, or apply for a loan down the line. Sole proprietors and single-member LLCs can open Business Complete Banking online in a few steps, which makes it an accessible entry point even for very small businesses, and the account's built-in invoicing and card acceptance tools mean you're not stuck bolting on a separate payments provider.
It's a tougher sell for cash-light, fully remote businesses that never need a branch and would rather avoid a monthly fee altogether. Partnerships and more complex entity types also can't open an account online and need to visit a branch, which adds friction that some newer, digital-first competitors don't have.
Chase Business Complete Banking®
Chase calls this its most popular business checking account, and it's the natural starting point for most small businesses. There's no minimum deposit to open it, and the monthly fee can be waived a handful of ways, including by maintaining a modest minimum daily balance or by routing qualifying deposits or card spend through the account.
Chase Performance Business Checking®
Aimed at mid-sized businesses with more transaction volume, this tier trades a higher monthly fee for a larger allotment of free teller transactions and in-branch cash deposits, plus fee waivers on multiple linked savings accounts and a personal checking account.
Chase Platinum Business Checking℠
Built for businesses managing larger balances and cash management needs, Platinum carries the highest monthly fee of the three but also the deepest free transaction and cash deposit allowances, along with the broadest savings account fee waivers.
Every tier includes Chase Business Online and Bill Pay, the Chase Mobile app, a chip debit card, and the option to add associate or employee debit cards. All three also come bundled with a linked business savings account whose own monthly fee is waived.
Figures reflect Chase's published account terms and are subject to change; confirm current rates and waiver requirements directly with Chase before opening an account.
Business banking support is available by phone and through Chase's digital assistant, and the bank's scale means you're rarely far from a branch if you'd rather talk to someone in person. The Chase Business Online platform covers the basics well: bill pay, transfers, digital invoicing, and account management, without much of a learning curve for anyone who's used online banking before.
The Chase Mobile app handles day-to-day banking, mobile check deposit through QuickDeposit, card payment acceptance through QuickAccept, and account alerts. It's a mature app that's been refined over many years, and it consistently ranks among the stronger mobile banking experiences offered by a major bank.
Deposit and credit card products are provided by JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., Member FDIC, and covered by standard FDIC insurance. Merchant services, including Chase QuickAccept, are provided by Paymentech, LLC and/or other subsidiaries of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A.; Chase Payment Solutions® is a registered trademark of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. used by its subsidiaries in connection with the provision of merchant services. Business Complete Banking includes fraud protection tools such as check monitoring and approval, payment limits, and account alerts, so you're notified quickly if something looks off. Chase also automatically enrolls checking customers in overdraft protection that waives the fee for minor, short-lived shortfalls, though a larger overdraft still carries a real per-occurrence charge.
Sole proprietorships, corporations, and single-member or single-manager LLCs can apply online in a few steps. Other structures, such as partnerships or multi-member LLCs with more complex ownership, need to apply in a branch. Either way, expect to provide personal identification, a tax ID (Social Security number, TIN, or EIN), and documentation establishing the business, such as Articles of Organization or a DBA certificate if it operates under a different name. New accounts need to be funded within 60 days of opening, and Chase periodically runs new-account bonus offers, so it's worth checking current terms before you apply.
Chase's business checking lineup won't win on fees alone, but that's not really the pitch. You're paying for a nationwide branch network, a mobile app that holds up well against competitors, and the convenience of having loans, credit cards, and payment processing available under the same roof. Business Complete Banking is an easy, no-minimum-deposit entry point for small businesses, while Performance and Platinum give growing companies room to scale without switching banks. If in-person banking and long-term product breadth matter more to you than shaving off a monthly fee, Chase is a safe, well-established choice.
